Objects are the things that make up your game. You use objects by creating them, assigning a sprite, adding code, and dropping them into your game. To create an object, click the blue ball next to the sprite icon. The object Menu will open up. It will look similar to the one below.
Assigning Sprites
To assign a sprite to your object click the box next to <no sprite>. This will list all the sprites you have created or loaded into the project. To name the sprite, click the box next to "Name:"
Events
Events will be explained further in the tutorial. To use them, click "Add Event". It will bring up a menu with all available options. Simply click the event to add it. Your code will be held within these events.
Adding Code
To add code, we use game makers drag and drop system. Go to control and drag "Execute code" into the "Actions" section. A new window will open. You will put your code in this window. I suggest getting use to ONLY using what is under "Code." In theory, you can do everything that is in the Drag and Drop through GML.
Programming
You have discovered "Programming." This is where your code will be written, ran, and altered. You will probably see this window millions of times as you progress through game maker and game creation overall. The code editor includes many useful features such as "Syntax Highlighting" and code suggestions as you type.
